All metal hex lock nuts are designed to increase the resistance to rotation by developing a prevailing torque between the bolt threads and the threads in the nut. Stover style lock nuts feature a crowned top that is crimped to create the locking feature. The style of locking crimp may be either oval or triangular in shape depending on the size.
